No more death by PPT!

Bad slides and how to fix them

Firstly, this workshop has very little to do with PowerPoint, or Canva, or Keynote, or whatever it is you used to make slides. The tool is less important than what you do with it, this workshop teaches you what to do.

Rubbish slides are the bane of many academic presentations, you know the ones, too much text, tiny figures, terrible colour choices. But these aren’t just aesthetic issues, they prevent your audiences engaging with the work, making the whole thing kind of pointless. If they aren’t listening why are we bothering, right?

This workshop gives you the understanding of why bad slides are bad, and how to make sure yours aren’t. We’ll tackle design and cognitive load theory, techniques for clarifying with simple visuals, as well as how to display and deliver more complex data.
