Why us?

We've spent 9 years helping research staff discover that they don't need to choose between credibility and personality, that talks don’t have to be dull to be effective, and that connecting to audiences is more important than being perfect.

Our mission (should you choose to accept it) is supporting brilliant people to find confidence, while helping research culture become more creative, engaging and connected. 

Thousands of academics across every discipline have worked with us, and universities like Cambridge, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Oxford, and Warwick keep returning because we really give a sh*t about helping people find their voice, ace that meeting, and feel confident in their work.

We also try to call out unhelpful elements of culture that surround research communication - those bits that say who can and can’t have a voice. What styles and approach are ‘acceptable’ and which aren’t. Who’s allowed in the club and who isn’t. Things which all too often get used to exclude.

Research should be collaborative, supportive, and often fun.

Our team have backgrounds in the physical sciences, plus training in science communication, informal learning and facilitation. We’ve done lectures, theatre shows, set fire to things, told stories and generally learnt a huge amount about what it takes to engage people.
